Abstract: Absenteeism and early school leaving continue to have an exponential effect on adolescent gypsy girls in the La Mina neighborhood of Sant Adrià de Besòs. The purpose of this work is to make visible the structural elements that are involved in this phenomenon. As a white woman I am aware that my knowledge is not free from being detached from my context or my subjectivity, for this reason I consider it essential to question and analyze all the cultural and social influence I have received, as this (re)occurs in my professional practices. For this, I have decided to carry out an auto ethnography as a research method where I question my position of power as a social educator in front of adolescent girls. From an intersectional perspective, I explore the construction of different hegemonic practices established in the institutions and how these influence adolescent gypsy girls and their relationship with school favoring absenteeism and school dropout. I confirm that whether consciously or unconsciously, I can be part of discourses and imaginaries that create social distance through prejudices and stereotypes, since due to my whiteness I start from a hegemonic discourse.
