Abstract: | The aim of this paper is to describe the case of Marc, an 11-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) grade 1 and intellectual functioning above the population average. ASD is considered by the DSM-5-TR (APA, 2022) a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by alterations in communication and social interaction, as well as the presence of restrictive and repetitive patterns of behavior, which causes interference in the cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning of the person and his or her family members. The results of the neuropsychological evaluation indicate that Marco meets the diagnostic criteria compatible with ASD, presenting a total IQ of 127 points, with alterations in social cognition, cognitive flexibility and externalized behavioral problems indicated by the family and guardian. The objective of the intervention is to provide strategies to enhance Marc's adaptive skills through psychoeducation in their immediate contexts, exercises where theory of mind and emotion regulation are stimulated, as well as to reeducate cognitive flexibility. We will use digital, audiovisual, physical tools and other visual materials created ad hoc, to enhance adaptive strategies during the 7 months of the initial individual intervention, considering giving continuity to the sessions depending on the evolution or need. |
