Title: Programas parentales en casos de divorcio y sus implicaciones en la salud mental de sus hijos e hijas

Abstract: The family plays a fundamental role in the psychological development of their sons and daughters, being from the beginning agents of vital importance for their well-being. Parental skills influence children, providing them with different tools to cope with the demands of the environment, in some cases adaptive, if parents have good parenting skills, and in other cases maladaptive. In order to obtain information on different programs that try to promote positive parenting to contribute to the psychological well-being of children and avoid mental health problems, different databases such as Web of Science or PsycINFO will be consulted. The programs found are mostly group-based and focus on psychoeducation about divorce and parenting skills and interaction between parents. The results show a decrease in externalizing and internalizing problems, an improvement in the quality of parenting and a reduction of clinical symptomatology in the parents. This confirms the hypothesis that these programs are effective, at least in the short term, in preventing mental health problems, and highlights the need for longitudinal studies to evaluate their results in the medium and long term.
