Title: El impacto de la precarización del trabajo y de las condiciones laborales en el Síndrome de Burnout. Hacia una nueva comprensión del Burnout

Abstract: Introduction: Burnout syndrome is a consequence of exposure to certain working conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of working and salary conditions, job uncertainty and workers' social skills on the risk of developing burnout, based on the theoretical basis proposed by Schaufeli and Taris (2005). Methods: 472 workers participated in the study (46.8% aged between 26 and 35 years; 66.1% men). A multiple linear regression was performed, taking the Burnout Assessment Tool - short version (BAT-12) score as the dependent variable. Results: The regression model explained a variance of 30.5%. Predictors of burnout were: job uncertainty (β=0.340), a large number of hours worked per day (β=0.100), and a work schedule that fits poorly with private life (β=0.094). The modality of work or the non-remuneration of overtime performed did not prove to be significant predictors. Predictors of the absence of burnout were: a work schedule that fits well or very well with private life (β=-0.275; β=-0.354), and keeping calm in the face of criticism (β=-0.203). Conclusion: In order to protect the mental health of workers, it is necessary both to fight against job insecurity and to develop preventive campaigns or interventions within the organization. Finally, longitudinal studies are recommended to bring more clarity to the study of burnout.
