Title: Casa, prat, muntanya. Aplicació de les tendències actuals de l’ecocrítica a l’anàlisi de tres novel·les de la literatura catalana contemporània
Author: Ribas Ballestin, Pau
Tutor: Hernández, Sònia
Abstract: Even though any text or cultural expression, of any time, can be object of an ecocritical analysis, present-day ecocriticism is a trend of cultural analysis in line with Postmodernity and the emergency of climate change. Analyses are carried out from an interdisciplinary point of view to detect the various literary representations of nature, and break the cultural boundary between humanities and science, as ecocriticism is related to environmental humanities. This work introduces the mainstream topics of current ecocriticism, with an emphasis on literary analysis: wilderness, non-human voices, gender, environmental justice, postcolonialism, sense of place, and catastrophe. Next, an ecocritical analysis of three contemporary Catalan novels is carried out, prioritizing for each of them one of the suggested topics, with the addition of the pastoral. These three novels are: Solitud, by Caterina Albert; Pedra de Tartera, by Maria Barbal, and Canto jo i la muntanya balla, by Irene Solà.
