Title: El cambio en las universidades a partir del uso de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación
Author: López de la Madrid, María Cristina

Abstract: The introduction of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in higher education has been a process that generated important changes in this educational level. This research seeks to explain the process of introduction and application of the ICT at the Universidad de Guadalajara (U. de G.), Mexico, which started in the middle of eighties and has continued throughout the next 25 years. In order to understand this process, I worked on two different aspects. The first one was an analysis of U. de G. policies and actions defined in six Institutional Development Plans written from 1990 to 2009 and reviewed as they relate to policies and actions promoted by diverse national and international organizations. This information is also compared and contrasted with a variety of official documents, such as: the Annual Reports of the Chancellor, and diverse reports of the camp at U. de G. which includes Strategic Development Plans.
