Abstract: Weather satellites make it possible to observe atmospheric conditions, such as cloud cover, rain, surface temperature, etc. These satellites broadcast, via radio, the captured images to ground stations. These images can be received by anyone through an antenna and an SDR (Software Defined Radio) receiver. Software Defined Radio devices allow many of the functions that were traditionally done by hardware and now can be done by software on a computer, and even systems such as Raspberry or similar. This allows greater flexibility when carrying out tests, or reconfiguring the system to adapt it to a new reception model, for example changing the frequency, modulation, bandwidth, etc., so costs can be reduced, being a sustainable model. The objective of this project is the construction of an antenna for the reception via SDR of images from meteorological satellites that emit their signal without encryption, such as those of the US NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) series. The antenna must be capable of receiving signals at 137 MHz, which is the frequency range over which these satellites emit, and the receiver and the program capture that audio signal to later process it as image and telemetry. When carrying out the tests in the center of a large city, it will be necessary to select different elements so that the SDR reception is adequate, through the use of FM filters and LNA amplifiers, limiting costs taking into consideration the different offers that exist in the market.
