Title: Análisis de cobertura en estaciones base para antenas de 4G y 5G

Abstract: Nowadays, mobile phone operators are facing a massive 5G technology deployment. Due to new requirements about the utilization of new frequency bands and use of modern technologies applied to antennas for doing them more efficient (MIMO, beamforming, etc.), 5G introduction in the existing mobile network, demand a stakeout in the link budget and coverage studies. In this white paper it is performed a deep analysis of the different factors that have an important impact on the mobile coverage footprint. Factors such as frequency band, technology, orography, or interference are key elements in the development of a good mobile network planification. In this research, 5G related benefits are highlighted in comparison with its predecessor 4G. This is accomplished through a detailed radio coverage study achieved according to diverse simulations. Aforesaid simulations will be executed by means of radio coverage prediction and planification environment, with ATOLL software. The results obtained during the study have been processed and arranged for further determination. These conclusions bring to the investigation a wide vision about the radio context, from the antenna examination and their pointing to the characteristics of frequency band, signal fading as well as understanding the radio panorama.
