Abstract: The mid-1980s and early 1990s saw the beginning of a phenomenon that would question the theoretical, artistic and commercial foundations of an industry -the comics industry- characterized, until then, by an apparent immobility in its traditions and audience, linked to the printed format from its origins and always dependent on trends in popular culture. With the arrival of the Internet, a new batch of authors, both young and old, began to develop comics to be read on the net. Some of them were simple conversions of their paper projects; others, on the other hand, had a real experimental and renovating will. All of them were part of an almost heretical movement and were making their way through uncertain paths, halfway between the search for new horizons and survival. The webcomic was born.
