Title: Evaluación e intervención en un caso de trastorno específico de la lectura en paciente de 8 años

Abstract: This paper presents a case of specific learning disability with reading difficulties (dyslexia) of an actual 8-year-old female patient. People with dyslexia show difficulty in reading, writing and comprehending written language. Although it is a very heterogeneous disorder and its cause is unknown, it is primarily phonological processing that is impaired, as well as verbal short-term memory and object naming. Using neuroimaging techniques, anatomical and functional differences have been found between the brains of dyslexics and normal readers. In the neuropsychological evaluation carried out, the patient was found to have alterations in visuomotor coordination, visuoperceptive, visuospatial and visoconstructive skills, in attentional processes (selective, sustained, alternating and divided attention), in some executive function processes (cognitive flexibility, inhibitory control, planning and reasoning) and in reading and writing processes. A neuropsychological intervention is proposed in which, by means of restoration techniques, a normalization of these processes is achieved. This will be carried out using different formats, such as paper and pencil worksheets, computers or board games. This intervention will consist of 40 sessions, two per week, each lasting 45 minutes. Most of them will be face-to-face with the patient. After this intervention, it is hoped that these processes will be normalised and that she will be able to acquire reading levels similar to those of her group.
