Abstract: Description of the patient. The present study examines the case of a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of 2. Pathology description: ASD entails neurodevelopmental disturbances that begin in early childhood. It is characterised by difficulties in communication and social interaction as well as restrictive and repetitive behaviours, interests or activities. Main findings. The patient displays emotional and behavioural impairments (attention, language and executive functions) that interfere with independence for Basic Activities of Daily Living. Aim and description of the intervention: The aim of the intervention is to rehabilitate affected cognitive functions and compensate for deficits to improve autonomy. The neuropsychological intervention consists of 2 one-hour sessions per week during 6 months, resulting in a total of 52 sessions. The intervention programme is individualised, has ecological validity and takes into account cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspects. The intervention plan is based on the results obtained in the assessment and is carried out in coordination with the family and the school. Activities are hierarchical and include games, paper-and-pencil and computer tasks. Intervention begins with attention, continues with language and ends with executive functions. Sessions on Basic ADLs, emotional regulation and behavioural aspects are distributed over the 6 months, and so are the sessions with the family and school.
