Title: Evaluación e intervención neuropsicológica infantil en un caso de anoxia cerebral
Author: Jiménez Moreno, Yasenca

Abstract: This master's thesis presents the case of Samuel, a 12 year and 3 months old boy with acquired brain injury. A year and six months ago, Samuel suffered several cardiorespiratory arrests due to Covid-19, which caused cerebral anoxia. Samuel counts with a solid family support from his parents and his extended family. His development was normal. Cerebral anoxia is the result of the partial or total interruption of cerebral blood flow and blood oxygenation for a period longer than the compensatory mechanisms responsible for preventing neuronal death can withstand. After the evaluation, the patient presents an overall intellectual performance below average in relation to his age group. Moderatesevere deficits appear in attention and processing speed; visuoperceptual, visuospatial and visuoconstructive skills; language, memory, and executive functions. No behavioural or emotional problems are observed. The deficits show difficulties at academic and functional levels and influence the patient's autonomy and quality of life. The general objective of the intervention is to improve the cognitive functions affected by the ABI and to compensate for deficits, in order to reduce their impact on the patient's daily life and improve his autonomy and quality of life. The intervention consists of a 1- hour session twice a week for 6 months. A number of 8 out of the 51 sessions are developed with his parents. Restoration and function compensation tasks are included.
