Abstract: In recent years, there has been a growing trend in Spain in the use of disinformation as a tool to alter public opinion regarding certain issues that promote the polarization of Spanish society, such as the fight against gender inequality. In this context, the media participate in the dissemination of the neosexist discourse, a school of thought that denies the existence of gender inequality in modern societies, making use of misinformation and appealing to emotions such as fear. The aim of this research is to determine the main trends in the dissemination of neo-sexist discourse by the Spanish media in the Internet and the information disorders that occur around the spread of this discourse. For this, two methodologies have been applied in a complementary way: the bibliographic review to broaden the context of the object of study and adapt the research design and content analysis to analyse descriptively and quantitatively the media publications. of Spanish communication in the digital sphere that contain one or more neosexist precepts. The time frame of the investigation has been established between November 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022 and the media selected for the sample have been: 20 minutes, ABC, El Confidencial, elDiario.es, El Español, El Mundo, El País, La Razón, La Vanguardia and OK Diario. 85 journalistic pieces have been analysed. The findings of this study show that the neosexist arguments most used by the media that disseminate this discourse are the discredit towards people, groups or entities that defend equality, the economic benefit of these and the existence of gender indoctrination/ideology imposed on the society. The news and the opinion article stand out as the predominant genres, the dissemination of the discourse. The most frequent type of misinformation is the presentation of information in a manipulated and highly biased way that multiplies the number of comments from readers and generates a great social debate around gender equality, marked by neo-sexist discourse.
