Abstract: Higher education institutions are committed to external evaluation agencies to be accountable and to ensure continuous improvement so that the quality of the degrees they offer can be guaranteed. If they want to go further, they can opt for institutional accreditation, which implies that the institution's Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) has been assessed and meets the guidelines and criteria of the accrediting agencies so that the institution can, from now on, be responsible for maintaining the quality of its degrees, without going through the accreditation processes of the degree programmes. Obtaining this institutional accreditation is a great milestone but it also means that the institution will have to carry out a self-analysis to ensure that all the processes and circuits established to guarantee quality are still valid and can be carried out despite not having to undergo external evaluation processes. Self-analysis is carried out in order to identify improvement actions to be implemented in the institution and, in order for these actions to be the most appropriate, it is necessary to follow a specific methodology that ensures that the necessary information will be obtained from this reflection and that a rigorous process will be followed. In the case of this work, the methodology followed was that of drawing up an improvement plan. This has allowed for the complete design of an improvement plan in which the actions to be carried out by the institution and with what priority have been identified. This study has made evident the need for institutions to ensure quality and to guarantee the involvement of all their members in order to work in a coordinated and coherent way towards a common goal: the maintenance of institutional accreditation.
