Title: Relación entre la victimización en la infancia y el desarrollo de psicosis en la edad adulta

Abstract: Psychosis in adulthood can be due to by various triggers or risk factors. The adverse childhood experiences, that origins victimization, is an increasingly interesting risk factor. Objective: To relate childhood victimization to the subsequent development of psychosis in adulthood and, depending on the violence, they may assume a risk factor, taking into account the gender factor. Methods: Documentary research and analysis of quantitative and qualitative scientific reviews and articles, in Spanish and English language, on the development of psychotic disorders, due to consequence of childhood victimization and risk factors. Results: There’s a relationship between childhood victimization and psychosis, which is determined by other risk factors such as the type of victimization or the severity and duration of exposure. Gender differences may also be a predictor of a risk factor for the development, in combination with other factors. Conclusion: Exposure to victimization is a major risk factor for developing psychosis that’s influenced by the type of disorder and intensity. Gender also indicates of a risk factor for developing of psychosis into adulthood.
