Abstract: | Fractal Runaway is a platform game that I have decided to carry out as my final project. With this project, I hope to acquire new knowledge related to the creation and design of a video game to be able to start my academic path toward a future master's degree in video game development and programming. Considering the duration of the project, I have decided to create a short story that will be the main thread of the video game, which will lead to the different levels that the player will have to overcome by means of the different tools provided. I have found it interesting to create the different levels by means of a procedural generation algorithm made with a cellular automaton. In addition, to have a basic structure in the levels, I will implement different fractal curves, which will allow there to be some guidelines so that the scenario can make sense within the desired for my project when generating the 'world'. My final product will include scenario generation, different enemies that add some difficulty, and items that you will have to collect before you can move on to the next level. With this, I intend to create a challenging video game, thanks to the variability of the game scenario and the different enemies along the way. |
