Abstract: Traditional agriculture still uses the same tools and processes. The agricultural sector needs the great potential of emerging technologies to facilitate daily work, minimise losses or increase yields and product quality. Although agriculture is struggling to take off in the technological context because it has never been presented as a priority, technology has tried to transform the way farmers work. The dependence on agriculture and its resources makes it necessary to understand it in order to use it in a sustainable way. The analysis of wireless systems together with their evaluation so that they can be implemented among the farming population in order to provide them with technological tools that allow them to acquire, adapt and transmit information so that they as users can remotely access the data collected on the network, can be considered a challenge to be met. This will serve to implement the most appropriate techniques in each situation of agricultural processes for their optimisation. Technologies such as IoT developed over 3G and 4G networks are proposed as suitable in simple case scenarios for advanced crop monitoring. However, the potential value of agriculture requires a more efficient use of digital applications for which low latency, high bandwidth, high resilience and support as in the case of a large number of devices is needed, and is solved by advanced and frontier connectivity technologies such as LPWAN, 5G and LEO satellites, etc.
