Title: La gamificació com a eina per a millorar l’engagement i la motivació dels treballadors a empreses espanyoles
Author: Santos Risa, Andrea
Tutor: Bresó Esteve, Edgar
Abstract: This master's thesis is focused on providing an answer to the main question of whether gamification is a truly useful and viable tool within Spanish companies to improve employee engagement and motivation. In order to obtain an answer to that question, a series of objectives have been set to achieve them throughout the work through the review of literary sources and existing research, the study of successful international and national case studies, and the analysis of Spanish companies specialized in gamification creation and consulting for third parties. Furthermore, in order to put the acquired knowledge into practice, a gamification proposal has been created for a nearby and well-known company by the author. Through a deep dive into the concept of gamification and the study of case implementations of gamified systems in companies, especially in areas related to the activities carried out by the human resources department, it has been possible to understand that gamification is a tool that uses game elements to incorporate them into non-game situations, in such a way that it generates motivation in individuals that leads them to voluntarily modify behaviors. However, for this situation to be achieved, the system must be properly developed, taking into account the desired objective or final behavior to be achieved, beyond the mere entertainment of the participants. Therefore, in all the cases studied, it has been verified that if the system is well designed and implemented, gamification can be a very powerful tool for the future of companies that decide to apply it, helping them improve employee engagement and motivation. Finally, thanks to the created gamification proposal, the difficulty of properly creating a gamified system has been experienced firsthand.
