La traducción del humor y de elementos culturales en los dibujos animados: análisis de la serie Los Simpson desde la versión original en inglés hasta su doblaje en castellano y español latino

Abstract

A principios de los años 30, el mundo comienza a dejar atrás el cine mudo y a adentrarse en el cine sonoro. Esto tiene como consecuencia la creación de numerosos estudios de doblaje destinados a traducir a varios idiomas las películas y series, lo que conllevó un enorme cambio en la industria. Hoy en día, el doblaje se ha consolidado como una de las principales modalidades de traducción audiovisual, pero esto no significa que el trabajo de los equipos de doblaje se haya vuelto más fácil. Dentro de esta cadena de producción, encontramos en un primer lugar al traductor, encargado de traducir el texto original a la lengua meta, incluyendo todos los problemas traductológicos que este pueda contener. En relación con el presente trabajo, a esta tarea se le pueden sumar, al menos, otras dos complicaciones. Por un lado, los textos audiovisuales pueden contener elementos culturales y humorísticos característicos de la cultura original, que pueden ser diferentes a los de la cultura meta, por lo que deberían adaptarse. Por otro lado, en el doblaje del inglés al español, encontramos el hecho de que, en la gran mayoría de los casos, existen dos versiones para una misma lengua: la versión castellana y la latina. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las diferentes técnicas empleadas por los traductores a la hora de traducir una misma versión original en inglés a dos versiones distintas en español, estudiando sus motivos, sus similitudes y sus diferencias. Para realizar este análisis, se usará como objeto de estudio ejemplos extraídos de la serie de animación Los Simpson.

At the beginning of the 1930s, the world began to leave silent cinema behind and move into sound films. This resulted in the creation of numerous dubbing studios designed to translate films and series into many languages, which led to an enormous change in the industry. Today, dubbing has established itself as one of the main forms of audiovisual translation, but this does not mean that the work of dubbing teams has become easier. Within this production chain, we first find the translator, in charge of translating the original text into the target language, including all the translation problems that it may contain. In relation to the present work, at least two other complications can be added to this task. On the one hand, audiovisual texts may contain cultural and humorous elements that are characteristic of the original culture, which may be different from those of the target culture, meaning they should be adapted. On the other hand, when dubbing from English to Spanish, we find that, in the vast majority of cases, there are two versions for the same language: the Spanish version and the Latin American version. The objective of this work is to analyze the different tactics used by translators when translating the same original version in English into two different versions in Spanish, studying their reasons, their similarities, and their differences. To conduct this analysis, examples taken from the animated series The Simpsons will be used as an object of study.
