dc.description.abstract | Sustainability has timidly but rapidly reached our screen culture. In this context, Green Shooting is presented as a multi-faceted concept that tries to define and disseminate all the collective actions on good sustainable practices from the pre-production to consumption phases of the audiovisual field and aims to foster sustainable awareness in newer generations of professionals and scholars. This chapter presents a case study of the audiovisual industry in Catalonia (Spain), where there are current proposals from a niche of professionals, but a lack of academic studies, specific policies, and institutional aid and funds devoted to promoting sustainable practices. Furthermore, there is a certain confusion on the concept of sustainability, which tends to be solely focused on the environment, but in fact merges within cultural and socioeconomic discourses and considers policies oriented to cherish specific values, like equity, social democracy, and prosperity. However, inspired by other countries in Europe, the sector is beginning to be sensitized and changing its roots and philosophy. This chapter details the strategies that have recently emerged in the Catalan audiovisual sector and suggests additional strategies for the continued development of Green Shooting practices. | en |
