Abstract: Traditionally, metaphor has been studied by scholars as a figure of speech used especially in poetry. Recently, however, cognitive linguistics has been interested in the metaphor. Currently, based on studies of Lakoff and Johnson, has shown that this figure of speech is not only a stylistic figure, but also reflects a cognitive process that permeates our language and thought. Humans in our daily lives constantly conceptualize more abstract areas of our experience with specific domains.
