Abstract: This article presents the evaluation process and the proposal of speech therapy in an 11 years old student with a prior diagnosis of mild Intellectual Disability (ID) and with serious difficulties in oral language. Based on existing data collection (dossier, tests and assessments), the completion of various non-standard tests (evaluation test phonetics, "Bus Story" and descriptions) and spontaneous log analysis, a linguistic profile is constructed that allows an approach to diagnosis: a Specific Language Impairment (SLI) aimed at a subcategory Phonological-Syntactic. Given this diagnosis, an action plan focused on the main affected components of the language is proposed in order to improve the language skills of the student. The results of the intervention in its initial phase, consisting in five sessions, show an incipient improvement in certain aspects of every language components, although other disorders remain. Therefore, we can conclude the importance of assessing and preparing speeches on TEL speech therapy in cases of mild DI, because as has been verified at an early stage, the evaluation tests favor in an emergent way the improvement of the language skills of those affected.
