Abstract: This bachelor's thesis analyzes the identity of the signer, the lack of knowledge by the Bachelor's degree of Social Education at UOC on the matter, as well as the importance of why the epistemology of deaf people should be taken into account and incorporated. We defend the presence of social educators in these practices and spaces, whom until this moment have been kept to the medical and rehabilitative area of the professional spectrum. Nevertheless, to defend the presence of said social educators, and to meet their ethical, pedagogical and political compromises towards deaf people, it is much needed that they incorporate their specialized knowledge about the deaf community as well as their expertise in sign language.
