Abstract: In recent years the global prevalence of diabetes has increased considerably and is largely due to the transition from a diet based on fresh foods and regular physical activity to a Western diet composed of ultra-processed products and a sedentary lifestyle. The ultraprocesses are characterized by having a harmful nutritional quality, tasty and therefore almost addictive. The objective is to defend the inclusion of the explicit suggestion to reduce to the maximum or avoid the consumption of ultra-processed foods in the dietary recommendations for the prevention or control of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Search of articles in Pubmed of the last 10 years binding between the components of the ultraprocessed and diabetes mellitus type 2, risk factors and possible complications.
