Introduction: Art and research [Introducció: Art i investigació]

Abstract

Focusing on the relations between art and research, this single topic issue was the result of several conversations held over the last few years between members of the CAIRE, the Experimental Art and Research Cluster. Founded by four research groups at the UAB, UB, UPF and UOC together with the HANGAR artistic production and research between in Barcelona, the objective of the CAIRE is precisely to contribute toward artistic research by capitalizing on its specific and unique features. In this respect, taking advantage of the framework offered by the symposium Questioning Aesthetics: Arts Research & Aesthetics, which took place from 20th to 22nd June 2017 at the Palau Virreina in Barcelona, organized by the UAB, the Transdisciplinary Aesthetics Foundation and Banco Sabadell Foundation, we issued an open call for articles that focus on the relation between the Arts and Research, which, after the peer-review process, ended up as this node of the journal Artnodes. Therefore, the first five articles are written by authors who took part at the aforementioned symposium at the time, while the rest of the articles in the single topic issue come from other writers who share their experiences and reflections with us from a range of different perspectives and approaches.

El presente monográfico, centrado en las relaciones entre arte e investigación, surgió a raíz de las diversas conversaciones mantenidas a lo largo de los últimos años entre los miembros del CAIRE, el Clúster de Arte e Investigación Experimental. CAIRE, fundado por cuatro grupos de investigación de la UAB, UB, UPF y UOC, juntamente con el centro de producción e investigación artística en Barcelona, HANGAR, tiene por objeto justamente contribuir a la investigación artística desde la puesta en valor de sus especificidades y singularidades. En este sentido, aprovechando el marco ofrecido por el simposio Questioning Aesthetics: Arts Research & Aesthetics, que tuvo lugar los días 20-22 de junio de 2017 en el Palau de la Virreina de Barcelona, impulsado por la UAB, la Transdisciplinary Aesthetics Foundation y la Fundación Banco Sabadell, lanzamos una llamada abierta a artículos que tratasen la relación entre las artes y la investigación que, después del proceso de revisión por pares, acabó resultando en el presente nodo de la revista Artnodes. De esta manera, los primeros cinco artículos provienen de autores que a su vez participaron en el mencionado simposio; el resto de los artículos del monográfico son de otros autores que, desde diferentes perspectivas y aproximaciones, compartieron con nosotros sus experiencias y reflexiones.

Aquest monogràfic, centrat en les relacions entre art i investigació, va sorgir arran de les diverses converses mantingudes al llarg dels últims anys entre els membres del CAiRE, el Clúster d'Art i Recerca Experimental. El CAiRE, fundat per quatre grups de recerca de la UAB, la UB, la UPF i la UOC, juntament amb el centre de producció i recerca artística HANGAR, a Barcelona, té per objecte justament contribuir a la investigació artística des de la posada en valor de les seves especificitats i singularitats. En aquest sentit, aprofitant el marc ofert pel simposi Questioning Aesthetics: Arts Research & Aesthetics, que va tenir lloc els dies 20-22 de juny de 2017 al Palau de la Virreina de Barcelona, impulsat per la UAB, la Transdisciplinary Aesthetics Foundation i la Fundació Banc Sabadell, vam llançar una crida oberta a articles que tractessin la relació entre les arts i la investigació, que, després del procés de revisió per parells, va acabar sent aquest node de la revista Artnodes. Així doncs, els primers cinc articles provenen d'autors que al seu torn van participar en aquest simposi, i la resta d'articles del monogràfic, d'altres autors que des de diferents perspectives i aproximacions van compartir amb nosaltres les seves experiències i reflexions.
