Title: Transmedia y renovación de audiencias en televisiones públicas
Author: Piñeiro Borrajo, Marta Maria

Abstract: This study assesses the appliance of new transmedia narratives in the audiovisual sector, focused on public television. Public television channels are forced to evolve and innovate in order to adapt to the audience's new habits and, at the same time, to the current way of telling multi-textual narratives deployed throughout different media and channels. Transmedia narratives are analyzed assessing their integration into the media convergence, the conversion of the passive viewer to an experience-demanding user and the need for public televisions to design strategies for their renewal as public services in this new context. The study of some experiences of adaptation to the transmedia ecosystem by public Spanish television channels leads to extract some criteria and practices of interest. These are considered relevant for the same transition by the Televisión de Galicia, especially related to the audience turnover, and to its decisive role as a driving force of the audiovisual sector and the promotion of the Galician language and culture.
