Abstract: | Menopause is the stage in the life of the woman, which is a decrease of ovarian hormone production, there are no production of ovules and ends the reproductive capability of the woman. These physiological changes can lead to significant disharmony in many women, related to these hormonal imbalances, among them we highlight, short-term symptoms to vasomotors level, urogenitals, cardiovascular, psychological, osteomuscular, weight changes and long term diseases such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. To relieve the symptoms, can be treated with synthetic hormones, is the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), always under medical prescription. The alternative to this therapy, there are options such as phytotherapy, food rich with estrogèniques properties, foods that help prevent or decrease the osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease, always linked to healthy lifestyles, balanced diet and physical exercise. Therefore the purpose of this literature review, will analyse various nutritional guides where outlining strategies for a balanced diet and healthy living habits in menopause and studying several keys foods as an alternative to the therapy of hormone replacement, to lessen the symptoms or prevent diseases such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. |
