Author: Montero Farrero, Anna
Tutor: Ollé, Candela
Abstract: The digital society is generating new typologies of youth media consumption. Within this context, the research aims to discover the consumption habits of ages between 14 and 16 years old, with a special focus on the information field. Through a quantitative methodology based on a survey, it explores the perception and confidence in the news and the consumption habits that the mentioned age group performs. It also researches the exposure to fake news, especially in the field of detection. The results confirm new habits in terms of access platforms (mainly social media such as Instagram or Youtube), devices (smartphone) and intentionality (involuntary access). There is also limited ability for the identification of fake news online.
