Abstract: | Under this project, there is an opportunity to evaluate the possibilities offered by free software to respond to the technological needs of a very special industrial sector, such as the pharmacist. Specifically, and as the title already announces, it is wanted to examine the options of replacement of the document management system based on proprietary software, which is intended to store and manage the flow of documentation generated and manipulated within the R & D area of pharmaceutical laboratories. And the proposals or alternatives should be based on free open source software. The current system in implementation is based almost 100% on proprietary applications. With a technological platform formed by the basic components type: Windows (Operating System) + Documentum (Content Server) + CaraWeb of Generis (Portal of access to the DMS) + Oracle (Database for metadata) + Apache / Tomcat ( Server of applications and servlet for transformation of documentation). The cost of this implementation is high due to the high cost of licenses, especially applications such as Documentum and Oracle. That is also maintained over time since it requires long-term maintenance contracts. |
