At the same time, teaching-learning methods, in the foreign language classroom, need to be revised to adapt them to new times and to appear more active and motivating for students. For all these reasons, the main objective of this study is to analyze active and innovative hybrid methodologies: gamification and learning based on problems or projects (ABP) and provide an overview of how to unify them in the subject of French ESO, to improve language communication skills. At the beginning of the research, they will address issues such as: the status of French in the school system, the methodological changes made in teaching a foreign language to reach its current state; origins, pillars that are supported and their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. Next, the concepts of the two methodological approaches will be presented. Here are some guidelines regarding in context, useful tools to develop this hybrid methodology in the classroom. Finally, we will reflect on the limitations encountered in the analysis of actual experiences, to open possible future research on the suitability of these methodologies in the language classrooms.
