Abstract: Reading, even though it is currently a solitary practice by definition, has always had social components. Thanks to new technologies, this social character of books has become essential in the virtual recommendation and promotion of books. Communities are created online, either on social networks or virtual platforms, that bring together lovers of the same genre or type of literature. Especially for the younger generations, who are, after all, the ones that move the most on the Internet, it is essential to feel part of a community related to them, with the same tastes and hobbies. The Internet manages to give readers a voice, who become content creators on the Internet, promote literature and link readers from all over the world. In this work, reading platforms and social networks will be analyzed, to understand how these communities are created and what social characteristics they contain, and special emphasis will be placed on Instagram and its influencers in the literary sector, as it is the newest social network among the most important and one of which there is less academic information.
