Abstract: The emergence, lifestyle and disappearance of Homo neanderthalensis remain an enigma to the scientific community. Today, many unknowns persist related to many of these aspects: where they appeared, if they possessed knowledge and skills considered modern, what were their survival strategies, how was the coexistence in time and space with Homo sapiens, why they became extinct ... This research project is elaborated with the intention of making a first methodological approach to the questions related to what is known, archaeologically, about the socialization processes of these hominins that lived for hundreds of thousands of years throughout the Middle Paleolithic in Eurasia. It will examine what information is being provided by multidisciplinary studies of some key Neanderthal sites on the European continent, regarding these representatives of the genus Homo as our closest ancestors, specifically on aspects related to socialization and lifestyles and survival. Working on this species is very interesting from an archaeological and evolutionary point of view, thanks to the contribution of objective data on the defining anatomical and cultural features, based on the archaeological evidence of some of the most relevant Eurasian sites, as well as the understanding of their way of life, their social and behavioral aspects, through their material culture, the existence of symbolic capacity and even language.
