Author: Orozco Lizárraga, María Eva
Tutor: Perramon Civit, Maria
Abstract: In this new post-pandemic decade we are faced with changes in all areas of human activity. The world of interpreting has been particularly affected, travel has been minimised and new technologies have rapidly become part of daily practice, changing the way interpreting is done, how interpreting projects are managed, how interpreters are trained, their working conditions, and even how current interpreting modalities are defined. Catalonia is now a melting pot of cultures and a hub of economic and social activity, thus the need for interpreting services is very high, and should be the professionalism with which interpreters carry out their work, supported, willingly or not, by new technologies. This paper defines the types of interpreting, reviews the state of sworn, for the public services and conference interpreting in Catalonia. It also analyses the main interpreting support tools to date and, finally, by means of a qualitative and quantitative survey, it explores the relationship that interpreters in Catalonia have with these new technologies and how they face their practice in the immediate future.
