Title: Toxicidad cognitiva inducida por radioterapia en tumores cerebrales: Estudio de un caso

Abstract: This papers deals about a patient diagnosed with pineal parenchymal tumor of intermediate differentiation that receives surgery and later radiotherapy. After four month of finished radiotherapy patient begun with forgetfulness, planification difficulties and slowdown in processing speed. Brain tumor suppose 2% of all brain neoplasms, it have bad prognosis and different functional limitations. His treatment consists of surgery and subsequent radiotherapy. Radiotherapy can produce radiation induced cognitive toxicity that, despite being little studied, suppose 50-90% in patient months afeter completion of treatment. It can be presented like acute encephalopaty, early tardive encephalopaty or tardive encephalopaty, and and can cause heterogeneous cognitive alterations. The results of the neuropsychological evaluation show alterations in processing speed, attention, visuospatial abilities, memory and executive functions, that affect emotional status and limited instrumental activities of daily living. The objective is improve cognitive and emotional effects after treatment with radiotherapy, to increase their functioning at social, family and work level. 56 sessions will be carried out distributed in two weekly sessions of one hour, in 7 months, paying attention to fatigue due to its interference. It will use pencil and paper and computer tasks, and will follow a hierarchical ordering of activities, orientation towards functional objectives, will take into account emotional variables and will consider preserved skills as the basis of intervention.
