Abstract: Despite the benefits and high demand that e-learning offers, it presents a series of challenges that have led to dropout rates above 80%. Various research has been carried out to identify the factors that determine the success of e-learning, but they have not been brought together to obtain a complete vision. This essay analyzes the problem of high dropout rates in e-learning and proposes a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to improve the effectiveness of online education. As a result, success factors have been classified into six categories: student characteristics, teacher skills, course design, technology used, support, and additional services. This essay highlights the importance of the role that organizational management plays in articulating the different actors involved in the teaching-learning process, as well as the implementation of strategies that ensure that online education offerings are effective. Management itself requires a framework designed specifically to standardize processes in the organization. To this end, a model for e-learning experience design is proposed that takes into account success factors, an agile, multidisciplinary approach and focused on the needs of the student to help organizations reduce dropout rates and increase the effectiveness of their online training courses and programs.
