Title: Textos divulgatius versus especialitzats: traducció i anàlisi comparativa de dos textos sobre la teràpia CAR-T
Author: Noró Pi, Maria

Abstract: The study of medical translation is gradually becoming a field independent of other specialized translation studies. The communicative situations that arise in the medical field are diverse, and the translator must consider any differences regarding text types, register, and genre. This work presents the English-Catalan translation of both a popular science text and a highly specialized text about CAR T-cell therapy, which is a type of immunotherapy that is revolutionizing cancer treatment. By comparing the translation of two texts with different degrees of specialization, I was able to appreciate that the main differences were determined by the target readers and layout of the text. In addition, through the use of parallel texts, I noted that the distribution of use of certain admitted terms was different in each language. Finally, I identified some terms, false friends, and phraseology typical of specialized medical translation that may also be relevant when translating texts aimed at the general public.
