¿Es la responsabilidad un problema moral o un problema psicométrico? Hacia la medición psicológica de la responsabilidad a principios del siglo XX en España

Abstract

Este trabajo discute la transformación del modelo de imputación que tiene lugar en el contexto español de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Más específicamente, pretende mostrar cómo el problema moral de la responsabilidad originalmente enmarcado en un ámbito ético-jurídico acabaría interpretándose en el ámbito psicológico en términos psicométricos, respondiendo así al ideal de objetivación y tecnificación científica. En los propios términos del psicólogo Anastasio Anselmo González –cuyos trabajos han sido analizados en esta investigación junto con los de otros autores como, por ejemplo, Quintiliano Saldaña o Pedro Dorado Montero–, será la «Psicología cuantitativa» la que ofrezca las herramientas más adecuadas para poder adentrarse con supuesta objetividad en el interior del hombre y descubrir de esta forma características esenciales como su «especificidad» y el grado o desarrollo de sus «capacidades» y «potencialidades».

Cis paper presents the transformation of the imputation model that takes place in the Spanish context at the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth. More specifically, the aim is to show how the moral problem of responsibility was understood more and more in terms of a psychometric problem; this is to say, the problem of responsibility is displaced from an ethical-legal sphere into a psychological one. Cis answers to the scientific ideal of objectification and technification. In terms of the psychologist Anastasio Anselmo González –whose studies are analyzed in this article, as well as Quintiliano Saldaña or Pedro Dorado Montero’s studies–, «quantitative Psychology» offers the most suitable tools to «enter».
