Abstract: This present Bachelor´s Degree Final Project focuses on the analysis of the sectarian phenomenon from a comprehensive approach, addressing social and psychological aspects. Framed within the theory of social constructionism, the study's main objective is to understand the issues surrounding sectarian groups and contribute to the dissemination of information. The justification for this research lies in the limited visibility of the social problem of sects, hindering their objective understanding and perpetuating stereotypical beliefs. Method. To conduct this exploration, an exhaustive literature review is carried out through qualitative content analysis, linking the results with previous works by other authors. Nineteen full texts are included, selected from documentary databases such as Dialnet, ResearchGate, SciELO, ACADEMIA, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Additionally, information is extracted from studies and scientific literature in institutional repositories.ç Results. Findings reveal a connection between spiritual dissatisfaction and attraction to sectarian groups, which offer answers to the search for meaning and belonging. Universal patterns characterizing the phenomenon are identified, providing a conceptual framework to understand its complexity. The loss of identity stands out as a significant consequence, with identity being a key element in group cohesion and control over members. Psychological vulnerabilities are observed in susceptible individuals, and severe consequences such as Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) among those who have belonged to sectarian groups. Exits mostly occur voluntarily, highlighting the positive influence of family and social support in the reintegration of former members into society. Discussion. In preliminary conclusions, the need for public awareness and education on manipulation techniques is proposed. The implementation of mental health resources is emphasized, along with the importance of building more resilient and empathetic communities in the face of this phenomenon.
