Author: Rey Durán, Sonia R.

Abstract: Considering adolescence as a period of important changes in the transition from childhood to adulthood, a vital and transcendental stage for the optimal development of individuals, and given the interactional and communicative nature that characterizes human relationships, which increase exponentially at this stage, the existence of a disturbing phenomenon in this age group has become evident: interpersonal violence in adolescents, which has negative psychosocial and emotional repercussions both on those involved and on society in general. Therefore, framed within the social constructionist psychology postulated by Gergen (2015), the main objective of this systematic review is to identify the psychosocial factors involved in the various types of violence perpetrated by adolescents.
Title. Psychosocial factors involved in different types of interpersonal violence in adolescents: a systematic review. Background. Considering adolescence as a period of important changes in the transition from childhood to adulthood, a vital and transcendental stage for the optimal development of individuals, and given the interactional and communicative nature that characterizes human relationships, which increase exponentially at this stage, the existence of a disturbing phenomenon in this age group has become evident: interpersonal violence in adolescents, which has negative psychosocial and emotional repercussions both on those involved and on society in general. Therefore, framed within the social constructionist psychology postulated by Gergen (2015), the main objective of this systematic review is to identify the psychosocial factors involved in the various types of violence perpetrated by adolescents. Methods. Strictly following the PRISMA 2020 guideline (Page et al., 2021), a total of sixteen primary articles that met the eligibility criteria were selected using the flowchart extracted from the databases: Dialnet, ProQuest, PsychInfo, Scopus and Scielo, from the combination of the keywords with different Booleans. The results have been synthesized and presented in the flowchart, as well as in a table using the PICO method (Sánchez-Martín et al., 2023) for its elaboration. Results. Of the sixteen studies selected, the multifactorial nature of the psychosocial factors involved in different types of interpersonal violence in adolescents is resolved, which are specified and collected according to the type of violence perpetrated and associated with personal, educational, sociocultural, and contextual factors, among others. Debate. The heterogeneous nature of the studies included in this paper is noted, taking into account the different types of violence, the samples selected, the different instruments used and the different contexts in which each of them is framed. On the other hand, and given the broad geographic scope included, it is proposed that new studies be carried out by delimiting the territory, taking into account the sociocultural differences characteristic of each region.
