Abstract: More than 22 million people listen to the radio every day in Spain, in any of its formats, mainly analog and digital. The 8:00 a.m. news program, from Monday to Friday, is the most listened to on the main radio stations, according to data provided by the EGM for this study. And of those 22 million people, more than half are women. The audience is distributed among different radio stations with very diverse profiles and editorial lines, both in public and private radio. On radio stations we hear the voices of women and men who tell current events with very diverse narratives, both classic and new formats. And in most cases following a similar structure: journalists, men and women who tell news, voiceovers, jingles- indicatives, advertising spots, and other content such as interviews and music in smaller quantities, at least in that hour. And throughout the story we talk about people, protagonists who, directly or indirectly, have a relationship with current events. And, except with the help of new technologies, radio remains sound without image. And only the voice and other sounds are what create images in our individual and collective thoughts. In recent times, there has been more talk than ever about the need to make women and men equally visible in all facets of life. And not only is it talked about or part of the debate in different social, cultural or political spheres, among others, but it is also contemplated in current legislation, which is also reported in this research. Therefore, this Final Degree Project is an approach to a reality of what three radio stations in Spain offer daily: Radio Nacional de España, Cadena SER and Cadena COPE, selected as a case study. And although there could be more, the study aims to be a sample of what that reality is like in one public and two private stations with very diverse profiles and editorial lines.
