Abstract: This Master’s Thesis aims to explore the quality of automatic translations provided by DeepL, focusing on the field of legal translation, with a particular emphasis on the translation of real estate contracts from English to Spanish. Considering that technological advancements continue to transform the translation field, especially in specialized areas such as legal translation, it is essential to assess the quality of these automatic translation tools in such specialized contexts. This study pays special attention to the quality of translations generated by DeepL, using two different methodologies, quantitative and qualitative, to compare automatic translations with human translations. It should be noted that the results suggest that, although DeepL represents a significant advance in automatic translation technology, its current limitations still necessitate the involvement of human translators, to review translations and thus ensure the accuracy and necessary quality of legal texts.
