Author: Puigdevall-Serralvo, Maite
Abstract: This Digithum dossier devoted to the so-called new speakers of minority languages features four articles from presentations given at the "New Speakers: A Concept under Construction" international conference. This open conference took place in Barcelona from 9 to 11 December 2013 and was organized by the Llengua, cultura i identitat en l'era global (Identi.cat) research group. The aim of the conference was to disseminate the work being done in the research project "Nuevos hablantes, nuevas identidades: prácticas e ideologías en la era post-nacional" (acr. NEOPHON) Ref. FFI2011-24781 [New Speakers, New Identities: Practices and Ideologies in the Post-National Era], which receives funding as part of the National Research, Development and Innovation Plan 2008-2011 programme of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The contents presented here have also benefited from the debates on 'new speakers' that have taken place in the scope of the COST European network, specifically, through Action IS1306 New Speakers in a 'Multilingual Europe: Opportunities and Challenges'.
