Aplicación de la lingüística cognitiva al aprendizaje y traducción del inglés al español de verbos con partícula del ámbito de la hostelería y turismo

Abstract

En este trabajo se analizarán las redes de significados de las partículas in y out, y up y down, que aparecen en verbos con partícula pertenecientes a los ámbitos de la hostelería y el turismo. In y out son partículas que se usan para definir los límites de un determinado punto de referencia. Tal punto de referencia se definiría en función de un objeto tridimensional, un objeto contenedor tal como una caja o una habitación. Up y down son partículas cuyo concepto conlleva la orientación de un elemento móvil con respecto a un punto de referencia en un eje vertical. Para el análisis de las partículas de los phrasal verbs se utilizan verbos de un ámbito específico, pero las conclusiones de este análisis son transferibles a otros ámbitos e incluso al inglés general. El conocimiento de la red polisémica de estas partículas sitúa a estudiantes y traductores del inglés en una perspectiva de interpretación del significado más cercana a la de un hablante nativo.

En aquest treball s'analitzaran les xarxes de significats de les partícules in i out, i up i down, que apareixen en verbs amb partícula pertanyents als àmbits de l'hostaleria i el turisme. In i out són partícules que s'usen per definir els límits d'un determinat punt de referència. Tal punt de referència es definiria en funció d'un objecte tridimensional, un objecte contenidor tal com una caixa o una habitació. Up i down són partícules el concepte de les quals comporta l'orientació d'un element mòbil pel que fa a un punt de referència en un eix vertical. Per a l'anàlisi de les partícules dels phrasal verbs s'utilitzen verbs d'un àmbit específic, però les conclusions d'aquesta anàlisi són transferibles a altres àmbits i fins i tot a l'anglèsgeneral. El coneixement de la xarxa polisèmica d'aquestes partícules situa a estudiants i traductors de l'anglès en una perspectiva d'interpretació del significat més propera a la d'un parlant natiu.

In this paper the meanings of particles in and out, and up and down, will be analyzed. The phrasal verbs analyzed belong to the fields of hotel business and tourism. In and out are used when speaking of a bounded landmark. This bounded landmark would be a three-dimensional object, a container such as a box or a room. Up and down are particles whose concept involves the orientation of a trajector in reference to a landmark in a vertical axis. Although the analysis of phrasal verbs are made with verbs of a specific field, the conclusions of this analysis are transferable to other fields and general English.
