Title: El terror japonés en los videojuegos. La traducción del videojuego Project Zero Maiden of Black Waters

Abstract: In the world of video games, there is an important part that goes unnoticed and is little valued in our region, and this is the localization. It is what makes a video game reaches the different countries of the world and we can understand everything that happens in it, both visually and written. In the following end-of-degree project I intend to give a visualization of everything that must be considered when localizing a work, focusing on the horror genre, specifically Japanese horror. You will see from what a video game is, through the localization, to the differences between Japanese and Western horror. It will also be shown that Japanese horror differs from Western horror in the story and in the setting shown. In addition, this work aims to show the challenges that can arise when one sets out to translate or adapt horror to different languages without losing the original message and at the same time be understandable to the target audience.
