Title: La localización de la saga Pokémon: vista al pasado y al presente
Author: Mestre Viñolas, Nil
Tutor: Igareda, Paula
Abstract: This study revolves around the evolution of the localization process of the Pokémon saga video games through the analysis of different textual fragments and non-linguistic content that can be found in the games. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the circumstances in which the localization of these video games took place and to see how these circumstances affected -and continue to affect- the localization task. To this end, the technical restrictions and translation strategies used in the first releases will be taken into account and the evolution of these strategies, thanks to hardware advances, will be represented. Previously, this study delves into the world of video game localization, offering a historical perspective of the industry, as well as reviewing strategies, challenges and guidelines associated with this type of translation, which will all be applicable to the analysis of these examples.
