Title: | Hamilton: an american musical - Retos y consideraciones de una adaptación al castellano |
Author: | Morral Benítez, Pol |
Tutor: | Enríquez Raído, Vanessa |
Abstract: | Musical theatre translation is a field that brings together many different skills into one single project. Dramaturgy, music and linguistics come together in a series of efforts, compromises and problem-solving that results in a final adaptation. Through the proposal of a Spanish translation of some musical pieces from the musical theater play Hamilton: An American Musical, this paper seeks to determine the particularities and translation problems that a project of such nature can present, as well as the strategies the translator can employ to solve them. In a post-proposal translation analysis, we seek to observe the role that not only musical and linguistic knowledge plays into such a task, but also the creativity that this type of translation requires. |
