Abstract: This article deals with the construction and validation of the Model of DigitalCompetences in Distance Education (DE) entitled MCompDigEAD. It is an exploratory-descriptiveresearch, with a qualitative approach carried out between 2014 and 2018 in Brazil, through threeprocedures. In the first, mapping and validation of digital competences with analysis andcomparison between theoretical reference, case studies with DE students and specialists. In thesecond, construction of the model through four procedures: Conception, Planning, Modeling andValidation. In the third validation jointly, the Open University of Catalonia (OUC). As a result, weobtained a model composed of seven areas: introduction to digital technologies, digitalcommunication, network information management, digital health and safety, digital citizenshipand presence, digital content creation and development and transversal, divided into three digitalcompetencies general: functional digital literacy, critical digital literacy and digital fluency,fourteen specific competences detailed through knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA) and threelevels of proficiency, initial, intermediate and advanced with use case examples. MCompDigEAD isa model for the purpose of orienting and assisting learning processes in DE, serving as a referencefor different institutions in educational contexts at a distance.
