Abstract: Although the time spent watching television is far superior to the time spent on the Internet, teens consider television to be a habit “of the past” and find computers much more adequate to their leisure and audiovisual needs. The data obtained from eight focus groups of teenagers between 12 and 18 and an online survey sent to parents show that television consumption is an activity linked to the shared rooms of the households, less regulated by parents. On the contrary, the consumption via the Internet is perceived by adolescents as a more open activity that fits with their social, cultural and psychological needs.
