Abstract: The following project consists of the development of a proposal for the translation from English to Spanish of the first episode of the series Our kind of people, created by Karin Gist. The series, which premiered in the US on September 21st, 2021, is based on the book Our kind of people: Inside America’s Black Upper written by Lawrence Otis Graham in 1999. The translation is presented in dubbing script format, so in the first sections a definition of audiovisual translation and translation modalities is given, nevertheless we go into more detail on dubbing and the dubbing process since it is the that concerns us. Then the translation of the entire episode is presented, and then finally the translational analysis in which the challenges and difficulties faced throughout the process are exposed, and the strategies used to solve them are explained.
