Title: La traducción en el ámbito del derecho penal internacional: propuesta de traducción y análisis de una orden de detención dictada por la Corte Penal Internacional
Author: Méndez Marí, Georgina
Tutor: Ferrer Aguilar, Aida
Abstract: This work focuses on the translation of an arrest warrant from English into Spanish issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its translation analysis. The main objective of this work is to present a translation that fulfils the characteristics of a professional legal translation and to broaden the knowledge of legal translation in the international context. The project includes a theoretical framework defining the ICC and its translation division, the translation of the document and the analysis of the translation. Two fundamental criteria were considered throughout the translation process: faithfulness to the original text and the requirements of the target audience. The results demonstrate that we are dealing with a legal text that presents the characteristic conventions of the institution and that, in addition, contains the most common translatological challenges in the context of legal translation.
